Something's Gotta Give (2003) is a comedy from the director of What Women Want (2003). It is a comedy comprising the talents of Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton. Meyers was also the writer of Father of the Bride (1991) and Private Benjamin (1980), so this has 'chick flick suitable for guys, too' written all over it. The Plot Harry Sanborn is a 50-something confirmed bachelor, who agrees to go with his much younger girlfriend Marin to her mum's holiday retreat. On arrival, they find Marin's mum Erica is there, and a series of comedy moments occur like an avalanche. With an ill-timed heart attack meaning Harry and Marin can't go back home, they are ... When Erica Barry meets her daughter's boyfriend for the first time, she is surprised at his age - Harry Sanborn is in his sixties, while her daughter is still a very young woman. After Harry falls ill at their house, Erica has time to get to know him better and, although Harry usually goes for twenty-somethings, there is a definite attraction between the two and they eventually get together. But Harry's tendency for young things gets in the way, and Erica has the opportunity to meet her own young thing - the gorgeous Dr Julian who is in his thirties. Is this the end of Erica and Harry's relationship? Or is there more still to come? I dislike Diane Keaton with ... Read the complete review

She decides to take him to her mother’s beach house one weekend to enjoy some sun and fun, thinking they’ll have the place to themselves. However, once Harry is stripped off and ready for action, Mommy unexpectedly returns home. Playwright Erica Barry (Diane Keaton) and her sister Zoe (Francis McDormand) do not know who the strange man in their kitchen is, and threaten to call the ... Read the complete review

Plot Outline (idea inspired from other reviews): When confirmed bachelor Harry (Jack Nicholson) and his latest squeeze (Amanda Peet) arrive at her playwright mum Erica’s (Diane Keaton) beach house for a dirty weekend, they’re surprised to find the fiftysomething already there. But it’s Erica who’s in for the real shock when Harry has a heart attack and has to convalesce at her place. Further complications arise when Harry’s cardiologist (Keanu Reeves) starts falling for Erica… Most days, I’d go and see a Jack Nicholson movie if it involved nothing more but a bare stage, a phone book and Jack in his reading glasses, starting with “A”. Apart from the ... Read the complete review
