Advantages: Cram packed with a brilliant concert, interesting backstage footage and some music videos
Disadvantages: None whatsoever.
Following the phenomenal success of Sophie's debut album Read My Lips and the singles from it, Sophie released a DVD entitled Watch My Lips.
The DVD includes a live concert, which was filmed at Shepherd's Bush Empire in May 2002, music videos for 'Get Over You', 'Move This Mountain', 'Murder On The Dancefloor', 'Music Gets The Best Of Me' (both videos) and 'Take Me Home'. Also included in terms of music videos are a few from her early days as front lady of indie band TheAudience, 'A Pessimist Is Never Disappointed', 'I Got The Wherewithal' and 'If You Can't Do It When You're Young, When Can You Do It?'.
You will also find a backstage tour diary which is an interesting look at what went on behind the scenes on the tour bus, backstage and at radio interviews and Sophie shows her fun, playful side. Sophie also gives an indepth interview where she discusses in detail each song and how she wrote it, and she shows that she's a true bonafide artist who knows what she's talking about.
The concert itself is phenomenal, she performs with a live band and she hits all her notes perfectly, I'd even go so far as to say she even sounds better live here than in her studio recordings. She threw in an old TheAudience song, 'A Pessimist Is Never Disappointed' into the setlist and her vocals are absolutely stunning on it. One thing Sophie doesn't excel in very well is dancing, but that doesn't affect how brilliant she is as a performer.
