Spy Game

Spy Game staring Robert Redford(Nathan Muir) and Brad Pitt (Bishop), is international thriller about C.I.A boss Nathan Muir trying to convince the U.S goverment to try and rescue C.I.A agent Bishop from a Chinese prison, and possible execution, after Bishop is caught spying on China. While muir is trying to convince U.S officials, he spends a good portion of the movie sharing his experiances, and telling stories of Bishops brave deeds, working for the C.I.A in places like Beruit, Soviet East Germany, and other hotspots.

The plot is fine, but the execution is not. The first thing that I noticed was that this movie seemed to artificial. The international locals were not convincing, and seemed stale. Examples of this are, the over use of fog in the Berlin scene, the camra work looked like a T.V comercial, and ethnic stereo-types. It seemed like the directors wanted to add atmosphere that wasn't supposed to be there. Because of this the movie looks fake, and not realistic. And as for the scene about the Middle East, that was also poorly done. I know many Arab people, and I have studyed their culture. The arabs represented in this movie looked and dressed just plain silly and unrealistic. The Arab people in real life look and dress nothing like that. The China scene is every bit as artificial, with over use of fake lighting, that looks like it came right out of a T.V series.

Aside From Robert Redford and Brad Pitt, all of the other actors in this movie were just as artificial as the movie's atmosphere. They looked like robots and acted veary poorly and stereo-typish.

The movie had a good concept, but failed to deliver, and did not come together that well, It is the type of movie that you go see, and are entertained, but you forget about it in no time. I would reccomend it to someone who is a Robert Redford fan or wants a quick-fix of entertainment. Spy Game is by no mea
ns a bad movie, and it would not hurt to go see it, you might like it, but it is not a realy good movie either, It's an average movie. If you are a movie buff, and have time on your hands, go see it.
