Spy Kids was something of a surprise hit, coming as it did with a healthy dose of what we've come to know as the Potter factor. A bit of simple children's entertainment that adults would actually enjoy. A sequel was inevitable, and the worry (for me, at least) was that this universal appeal would be the first thing to go. Thankfully, the entire cast of the original film returns with director Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi, Desperado, the most unlikely guy to be making kiddy films EVER) in much the same spirit. The original Spy Kids movie arrived with little fanfare, a small budget but a lot of ideas. $100 million at the US box office meant that a sequel would be a sure bet. However writer/director Robert Rodriguez had already envisioned this and knocked out a second movie within the space of a year. For those that haven't see the first one then Carmen and Juni ... Read the complete review

If the film had half a brain - I'd be satisfied. I longed for something more than a farting dog (Scooby Don't!) or a Karaoke singing pug (Dog In Black, more like!). Well, what about Spy Kids 2? Is it a case of 'must spy harder!' or do we have another hit on our hands? Come with me to the Island of Lost Dreams to find out..... Carman (Alexa Vega) and Juni (Daryl Sabara) Cortez are back. The OSS now has it's own Spy Kids division and Carman and Juni are spy kids one and two. However they have competition from two brats called Gary (Matthew O'Leary) and Gerti (Emily Osment) Giggles , one which Carman fancies even though he is horrible and the other who is looks and acts like the prototype of a spoilt know it all brat. The film opens with the four competing to save the president's daughter (Taylor Momsen) who has climbed on top of a theme park ride to get her always busy fathers attention. Of course Gary and Gerti get all the credit. That night the new president of the OSS is going to ... Read the complete review
