Advantages: easy to follow to a star trek newbie

Disadvantages: unsure as to wether die hard trekkis would be as welcoming to this film

WOW! This movie absolutly blew my mind! However, i am in no way shape or form a star trexk fan, i have never watched an episode, so maybe that could be the reason why? Im aware of the familiarity of some of the names, i had no prior knowledge of what this prequel was leading up to. Taking the film in its own right, and not actually focusing on the franchise to which it belong, i found the graphics phenominal, the script very well put together, as well as funny in parts and the actors were all very well cast. I was a little worried at the start that i asnt going to understand the whole space travel phenomina, however the film does a VERY good job of explaining what is happening, as its happening as well as why it is happening, making it even easier to understand and enjoy all the more. the only real issue i had with this film was that 'Spok' actor Zachary Quinto had a little bit of 'Heros' style acting shine through every now and again, but that wasnt even that much of an issue, more of an observation. Although i am very possitive about this film, i do wonder if i would be as praising if i was a die hard trekki as so many people are?

Summary: start to finish was a joy to watch, had me cryin in the first 5mins
