The star trek film is a 2009 remake of the classic series star trek. This film almost starts from the very beginning, so you do not need to even know what star trek is to make sense of this film, all you need to do is show up to the film!

The films starts, when a huge ship emerges from a "lightning storm" in space, and destroys a star fleet vessel. Kirk's mother (Kirk is the main hero in this film) manages to escape and give birth to Kirk, but Kirks dad is killed in the attack. Years later, Kirk joins starfleet, but what ever happened to that huge nasty spacecraft...

I am not going to give away any more plot, as it would just ruin the film for you, but this film does have a bit of time travel, explosions, rescue missions and cheesy laughs. You do not need to be a "trekkie" to watch this film, and the fight scenes are nothing like they were in the tv series, in this film, they are fast paced, action packed, and dare i say it, a little bit "grim" style. To know what i am talking about, take batman as an example. The original batman films were very, "idealistic" but the new ones are dark and morbid, the same has been done with star trek.

There as some AMAZING gadgets and gizmos in this film, (unfolding katana anyone?) and the amount of lasers, missiles, axes, guns and simple fist fights will keep any action fan entertained.

So overall?
This is a MUST SEE film, for everyone. For sci fi, action, thriller, good vs bad fans. This film is so good, that ever since watching the film, all i can think about it getting my hands on a replica phaser that was in the film, and I never even watched star trek on tv that much!
This is my favourite film of 2009 so far, this will not dissapoint. The only slight tingle i had with the film was a physics inaccuracy, but then again, as the original star trek series always just did things that were theoretically possible, (and many of them are turning out to be true, laser guns are being deveolped as you read this!) but this isn't the case in this film. Not a problem for most, but i am bit of a scientist, so i noticed.

Summary: very very very very very very very good
