Rating:
STAR TREK: INSURRECTION is the 9th in the 'Star Trek' movie series, and the 3rd to feature the 'Next Generation' crew, led by Captain Picard. The film tells the story of a scheme between a Starfleet Admiral and the Son'a (a dying race) to destroy the Ba'ku, a peaceful race who have a formula to halt the aging process. When Picard and his crew discover this plot and are put into direct conflict with their superiors in order to save the Ba'ku. After the exciting previous film, FIRST CONTACT, this feels much more sedate. The action proceeds at a much slower pace, and Picard even finds some time for a love interest, Anij (played by Donna Murphy), one of the Ba'ku. ... Read the complete review

Star Trek: Insurrection is one of the films in the franchise with a reputation for being a weaker film. It wasn't as big a hit at the box office as its direct predecessor; Star Trek: First Contact and was generally considered to be less exciting than a Trek film should be. Over ten years on is a good time to look back on Star Trek insurrection and in my opinion it remains a criminally underrated entry in the series. Insurrection follows the crew of the Enterprise as they investigate reports of a malfunction by android officer, Data. As part of a research team covertly observing primitive villagers on a remote planet, Data suddenly breaks cover and begins ... Read the complete review

Star Trek: Insurrection is a 1998 science fiction adventure film and the third big screen outing for the 'Next Generation' cast and crew. The plot of the film revolves around the Ba'ku, a perpetually youthful race of only several hundred who have shunned technology and set up a back to basics utopia on their Eden like planet. The atmosphere of the Ba'Ku's planet contains a type of radiation which serves as a sort of fountain of youth but its life prolonging properties attract the attention of dodgy Starfleet Admiral Dougherty (Anthony Zerbe). Dougherty and a dying race called the Son'a, who undergo more regular cosmetic surgery than Dale Winton, plan to relocate the ... Read the complete review

FILM ONLY REVIEW Captain Picard and his crew of the Enterprise get word that one of their crew members, Data, has gone out of control and they need his details so they can disable him. Data has been away from the Enterprise helping a team of men observe the Ba'ku people who live on their own planet peacefully. Picard believes that Data must have been triggered to go bad as he has no emotion chip in place so he and the crew of the Enterprise set off for the planet to find out what has caused Data malfunction. When arriving they manage to catch Data as he is flying and firing at the ship, Data is soon back onboard the Enterprise and functioning ... Read the complete review

The ninth in the Star Trek movie franchise, and the third featuring the Next Generation cast, Star Trek: Insurrection could conceivably have been blighted by the odd number curse. Fortunately that is not the case here as Insurrection is an enjoyable 100 minutes. The crew of the Enterprise E are in the middle of diplomatic negotiations when a disturbing communication from the Briar Patch region of space alerts them to problems. Commander Data is on a special assignment with a joint Starfleet and Son'a mission to observe the primitive Ba'ku planet when he appears to malfunction and reveals the observers presence to the unaware Ba'ku. When the officer in charge, ... Read the complete review
