This third volume consists of the episodesThe Man Trap and The Naked Time. The Man Trap focusses on an old lve of McCoy's. They have gone to check on an archaeologist and his wife on a planet with a ruined civilisation. Crew members start dying though and the archaeolist is hiding a dark secret. A very good episode even if the monster is just unconvinving to say the least. The naked time is a queer epsidoe that focuesses on the ships crew when they start behaving oddly and bringing out hidden and supressed fantasies. Spock shows some emotion for the first time as well. This STAR TREK DVD features another 2 episodes from the first series of the original television series, THE MAN TRAP and THE NAKED TIME. Although THE MAN TRAP was not the first episode made, it was the first episode broadcast, as the order of broadcast episodes was different to the production order. In these days of ongoing storylines in shows like LOST it seems odd to think that a show could be made with the episodes shown in any order, but in the 1960s this was commonplace as there was little character development from one episode to the next. The early episodes of the original Star Trek, despite demonstrating the occasional glitch with later continuity, also contain some of the finest plots the series would ever produce, before it started to re-tread old ground and resorted to increasingly desperate ideas in its later seasons. Fortune favours the fans with this third DVD collection of episodes presented in their original production order, as both happen to be superior examples of what the series was capable of even at this early stage.
