And so, the last great Star Wars tale unfolds. And much though I love it, I always find Return of the Jedi a highly frustrating experience. On some levels, it is every bit as good as Episode IV and parts of it rival The Empire Strikes Back. At the same time, though, it always leaves me feeling slightly dissatisfied. Things get off to a promising start, with Director Richard Marquand maintaining the darker tone of Empire followed. Since the events follow on almost immediately from the end of the second film, Return of the Jedi has the luxury of being able to dive straight into the action. Shorn of the need to build up characters or storylines, it sets off at a ... Read the complete review

Episode VI - it seem slike only yesterday that I went to the cinema to see this film (I was 9 years old at the time!) and it left such a mark on me. I have always loved all the Star Wars films, but Return of the Jedi has always had a special spot in my heart. We follow on nicely from Episode V and startw ith the rebel alliance trying their best to rescue Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt. There are some brilliant bits on Tatooine and none more so than the fabulous RANCOR monster. As a child I found that really scary! We also get to see Master Yoda again and more from Obi Wan (in a dazzling Blue Haze) as well as other favourites such as Wedge Antilles and ... Read the complete review

This release is the 1997 Special Edition of Return of the Jedi, where George Lucas went back to the original films to 'complete his vision' & insert new scenes he either didn't have the time or the budget for the first time around. Or maybe he just likes meddling with his work, it's not really necessary to go back posthumously & edit the films & bring them up to date. One of the great things about cinema is that it captures a story with the technology available at the time, some films date badly, yet the best never will. The original Star Wars releases are still beloved by many around the world, evidenced by the sheer amount of children young ... Read the complete review

A very influential film for me, and like the one before it, one of the strongest of the saga. It is the internal and external conflicts of the characters, the sheer culmination of events of the struggle between the Rebellion and Empire, and the left-wing dependence on minor characters and peoples to do their bit. The acting of the main characters is so strong. We learn this by looking at the more recent ones: without the calibre of actors like Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford they seem much emptier. And this truly is family entertainment, for the family values are at its centre, and friendship too. We are in a large universe, where the ... Read the complete review

The strongest film of the whole sega and the film with the very best scene! Right at the beginning of the film, in Jabba the Hut's palace i can not find a scene with i enjoy to watch more than this one. Can you spot the hidden alien language about C-3PO and work out what it says? Very funny when you actually realise what is being said. This film takes off from the end of Episode V, and rounds of the Star Wars films brilliantly, giving every character their little piece to do to help fight against the Empire. Can the rebellion finish the Empire once and for all or will the empire stand strong and rule the galaxy? This film is based alot ... Read the complete review
