Advantages: Good use of characters, nice to watch, quite exciting

Disadvantages: Not alot of action, better to see older series first to get a feel of the film, more in Continuum

Stargate The Ark of Truth is the first feature film since the original Stargate film. This is set before Stargate Continuum with it's stortline based on the Stargate team (Daniel Jackson, Colonel Cameron Mitchell, Samantha Carter, Teal'c and Vala) searching for a dangerous ancient artefact with could destroy the Ori. In this film there is a double crossing I.O.A agent who follows the SG-1 team around wherever they go and keeps a good eye on Cameron Mitchell. But Marrick brings on board the ship they are on and builds a replicator which could not be destroyed by the teams weapons. He intended for the replicator to be place on the Ori ship so that the replicator could destory their fleet. So this replicator ends up replicating more of itself until it creates a queen replicator. Mitchell and the team have to find a way of destroying the replicators and the Ori before they destroy themselves. Once the Ark has been activated, it makes those who catch any glimse of the beam to believe that the Ori are not gods, which inturns makes the person who came in contact with it pursuade others.

The film itself does use a variety of characters and brings one or two characters from the series together to fight the Ori, which i find quite cool. It may not have lots of action in the film but it probably is hard to make a Stargate film last 102 minutes, which is quite an achievement.

I've seen both The Ark of Truth and Continuum and i think Continuum is better but it is better to see both films to see where it follows on from. It's been along time since they brought out a Stargate film so i think they have done quite well here.

So if your a Stargate fan then i suggest buying this film. You can also buy the film and Continuum together in the same DVD package which contains both feature length movies. If your new to Stargate or sci-fi then i think you will love Stargate, but i would suggest watching the older series/seasons to get a feel of the characters, then watch the films to see how they perform together. Stargate is the best sci-fi series/films i have ever watched as there's so much variety. So i think that Stargate The Ark of Truth would be good in anyones collection of films and especially in your Stargate collection.
