More Ford Escort than Torino (Starsky and Hutch: The Movie (DVD))
Member Name: paul88
Advantages: Stiller and Wilson put in good performances Disadvantages: So much lost potential
This film is based on the original 1970's TV series of the same name. David Starsky (Ben Stiller) is a cop with his mum's reputation hanging over him who does everything by the book. Ken Hutchinson (Owen Wilson) is the laid back cop who steals from bookies and hangs out with criminals. Both are partnered together for the first time in this film. A body washes up on the shore and Starsky is determined to get to the bottom of it whereas Hutch feels they would be better off pushing it back out to sea. Hutch is told by his informant, Huggy Bear (Snoop Dogg), that a big cocaine deal is going down in the city. Their enquiries lead them to Reese Feldman (Vince Vaughan) who is importing odourless and tasteless cocaine that sniffing dogs can't pick up. In Starsky's souped-up 1974 red and white Ford Torino they race round trying to find out the origin of the cocaine. Summary: A good film but really needed a better script |
