GREAT STORY AND GREAT CAST (State of Play (DVD))
Member Name: chrispearse
Advantages: Fantastically gripping plot Disadvantages: Slightly unsatisfactory ending in my view
Just seen this film at the Cinema! A great story and a great cast to tell it. Russell Crowe gives a masterful performance as Cal McAffrey, a rugged journalist with a good reputation, but It's been a while since he's had a good scoop though and the editor, played with an excellent blend of honest humour by Helen Mirren, is getting impatient. But Cal keeps her hanging as more and more secrets are unvieled. Eventually Cal is left with a difficult choice - is he a journalist first or a friend first? Where does his duty lie? Summary: Really good - watch it! |
