I am a huge fan of the comedy film genre and have seen 100s of films from broad slapstick to subtle society capers. I have noticed that comedy actors usually last for about 5-10 years before they are no longer popular. For a fleeting moment their type of comedy attracts huge audiences, then all of a sudden the same audience get bored with seeing the same things and the actor is no longer popular. These actors will continue to work, but they are past their peak. Edie Murphy, Dan Ackroyd, Jim Carrey, all work for the sake of it. Step Brothers is possibly the funniest movie I have watched in a long time. Will Ferrell is an excellent actor but when I saw the trailer for this movie, I thought it would just be a cheesy, funny-in-places flick, that I'd wish I hadn't bothered with. I was wrong. This movie is hilarious throughout and will have you in stiches. I have watched it three times now (the most recent being on Blu Ray) and still find it funny. The whole man child concept is done very well. It obviously is not meant to be a serious movie and its only flaw is that it maybe tried too hard at the end to be... serious.
