Advantages: Some great jokes, one especially that had me choking I was laughing so hard

Step Brothers

I've watched John C. Reilly for years on thousands of films, without really learning his name. It's not been until recently that I've actually really noticed that this guy does have talent. When I heard that he had pared up with Will Ferrell who gets me in stitches with his films, I knew I had to watch Step Brothers.

The Plot

The film follows two 40 something men, who are pretty much the epitome of the word losers, they have no girlfriends, no desire to work, still act like they're 15 year old boys, and most importantly, still live with their parents, out of choice, not necessity.

When their parents meet and decide to get married, these two men are forced to live together, and of course they hate each other. Can these step brothers' finally get along?

My Opinion

I have to say, this film gave me one of the biggest laughs I've had in years, just for one damn scene. If any of you have watched this film, most specifically the bunkbed scene then you will know what I mean. I was slightly tipsy with my mates when watching this film, and on my way to getting even more tispy with my next drink, and then this scene happened and I ended up choking.

The rest of the film really doesn't deliver as much as I would have liked on the jokes, I think when you watch a film with Farrell and C. Reilly you expect to be laughing throughout the whole film but I found it quite lacking on laugh out loud jokes.

The rest of the film was really good, I think Farrell and C. Reilly work fantastically well together and they do have chemistry on screen. They are hilariously stupid and you do shake your head at times going, whose idea was that? That's stupid.

If you hate Farrell then you will not like this film, if you don't like 'stupid comedy' then this film is not for you. If you just want a good laugh, and you like these kind of comedies then this film is for you, there are some great moments in the film, even though it could have done with a lot more jokes.

I myself rented this film out, but would not buy it. It's not really worth that at the moment, but if you can get it cheap then you might as well.
