Advantages: funny, Ferrell and Reilly work well together

Disadvantages: a bit too silly at times

Step Brothers is another hilarious slapstick style comedy starring Will Ferrell and John C Reilly. After their last reasonably successful film together in Tallegeda nights, they are paired up once again.

The film stars Brennan Huff (Ferrell) who is 39 years old and still lives with his divorced mother, Nancy (Mary Steenburgen) and Dale Doeback (Reilly) who is 40 years old and lives with his widower father, Robert (Richard Jenkins). They both have had difficulty in keeping a job throughout their adult lives and moving out of the family home.

When Robert and Nancy get married, Brennan and Dale have to move in together and become step brothers. This is against their wishes and they immediately don't like each other. Their parents declare that they should both find jobs, or else they're out of the house as they are planning to sell the house and go travelling on their boat. They both take job interviews which they do quite poorly in. After an incident with Brennans brother the two step brothers start to bond and then decide to start their own company called "Prestige Worldwide" using their interest in music. Can they be successful? Will they move out?

I saw this film when it came out at the cinema and found the film to be enjoyable and funny. The plot is not great but thats not to be expected in this type of film. It is fun filled and full of laughs. If you are a Will Ferrell fan it is likely you will enjoy it. Ferrell and Reilly work well together and are ideal for the roles. It is pretty silly and slapstick at times but I think it works quite well overall. People will either like this type of comedy or not based on personal preference. If you do like it like me, you will find it a pretty funny and decent film to watch.
