... is written by Stephen King, the king of horror! First off, this film really is scary - it uses all the usual techniques to frighten you, and it works! Even now it still works as a horror film. The plot is full of predictable cliches from the genre, but that does not stop it scaring the life out of you! There is something about Pennywise being a clown that makes him so evil. We all know the idea of horror films turning seemingly nice things into scary things- dolls, clowns etc, and for whatever reason it really works h...more

Premium Review Stephen King's It (DVD): My Worst Nightmare and One Rather Disturbing Film! (1923 words)

My Opinion Of The Film Ok, I don't really know where to begin with this one. lol! The first time that I watched this I ended up turning it off half way through it because I could not bear to watch it any more. See, I have a big fear of clowns. I am not sure where it all began, I do think it is thanks to a certain clown in the Blackpool tower when I was a child though. I was there on holiday with my parents and my mum said since then that I had taken a disliking to them because one had scared me and stole my teddy bear. Well I thought it was time to confront my fear, so gathering up all my braveness for the second time. I Hesitantly switched it on ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

It is a horror film that was released in 1990 and was based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. It is rated 15 due to moderate horror and violence and the film is 180 minutes long as it was originally aired in two, hour and half parts. Plot In Derry, Maine, children are disappearing left, right and centre and no one has any clue why or where and the police have no leads. At the beginning of the film, we see a little girl on a bike riding around and when her mother calls her to come in, she doesn't listen and carries on instead. The little girl hears other children laughing in the distance and then hears a clown. The clown seems friendly enough ...  Read the complete review

Stephen King's It, although a tad clunky due to some dodgy production values in its second half, nevertheless has a special place in my heart as one of the better King adaptations. I saw the film first when I was very young, and it informed a fear of clowns in my childhood that was only remedied when I saw the film again as an early teen and laughed at how diabolical the effects are when the monstrous clown transforms into a giant spider at the film's conclusion. The film unfolds in two places - the 1950s and the then-present 1980s, as we witness Bill Denbrough's younger brother being lured by a drain and being murdered by Pennywise the Dancing Clown (Tim ...  Read the complete review

Stephen King's "It" Released November 18th, 1990 Every true lover of horror movies has either seen this movie or they own it and its likely that they have also read the book! I will never forget the first time I saw this movie at a drive in theater in California, the memory of this movie still haunts some of dreams even now! In true Stephen King style, this movie is excellent and sticks very close to the book, really brining the words into life! The only down side to this movie is that it is extremely long and a little slow in a few spots but the rest of the movie makes up for it! I suggest watching this one curled up on ...  Read the complete review
