I'd never heard of Stephen King's "Storm of the Century" until I happened across the book version in a New York branch of Barnes and Noble back in 2003. I knew that many of his books had become films and TV miniseries, most of which turned out to be pale comparisons of his written work. However, this was the first time I had seen something he'd written directly as a script and hearing it had always been intended to be written that way and had indeed been filmed, I was keen to find a copy and see if it fared any better in the transition from one media to another. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the title, a major storm is about to hit Little Tall, a ... Read the complete review

Rather than being an adaptation of one of Stephen Kings books this film was actually written especially for the screen as a US mini-series by King himself so book comparions cannot be made, the screenplay was released a short time later in book form for readers to enjoy and this is one of the best Stephen King stories that made it to DVD. A very powerful blizzard hits small town of Little Tall Island. While trying to deal with the storm, the citizens of the town are visited by Andre Linoge, a stranger who apparently knows all of the townsfolks' darkest secrets. After having killed one of the town's residents, Linoge is jailed. Even though he is kept in jail Linoge is somehow able to force people to commit suicide or kill others from within his cell. Linoge constantly repeats "Give me what I want and I'll go away" through his victims as well as to his victims. What the guy wants is to take away a child from one of the town's families. The community is torn apart but as the situation ... Read the complete review

This film is based on a Stephen King novel of the same name. It tells the story of the residents of Little Tall Island off the coast of Maine. It starts when an old lady, Martha Clarendon is killed and the killer is still in her house. The killer is Andre Linoge (anagram for Legion), and when some of the residents arrive at the house he is sat in a chair with his walking cane and just says "give me what I want and I will go away". Linoge is taken to the jail at the back of the convenience store. He knows all of the residents secrets which include abortion, growing marijuana, adultery and gay bashing etc. From his prison cell he causes ... Read the complete review
