Rather than being an adaptation of one of Stephen Kings books this film was actually written especially for the screen as a US mini-series by King himself so book comparions cannot be made, the screenplay was released a short time later in book form for readers to enjoy and this is one of the best Stephen King stories that made it to DVD.
