 ... Maybe. Sorry to be so vague, but I really couldn't tell what the hell was happening a lot of the time. The film deliberately blurs the boundaries between dreams and reality, so we can't trust anything that we see. This isn't necessarily a bad idea, and there are admittedly some nice moments. But for the most part this is the same interminable mess as every other Jesus Franco film, and the occasional bits that work don't make up for the frustrations of the film as a whole. A review of the Anchor Bay DVD, currently available on amazon for £3. I don't know why I do it. Jesus Franco, a Spanish horror and porn director, has long been my least favourite film-maker. And yet somehow I end up watching his films on a regular basis. I've seen his pitiful spy thrillers and worthless video nasties, his deathly dull 'erotic' horrors and his dire cannibal films. All are terrible (and he's directed well over a hundred films, so I've not even scratched the surface). Occasionally someone will tell me that such-and-such a Franco film is the one to go for, that if I see that one then I'll suddenly understand Franco's cult following. The latest ...
