Summer Hours is a new French artsy film directed by Olivier Assayas, a Parisian director and son of the famous Jacques Remy. The leading actress is Juliet Binoche - my favourite actress of all time. Olivier Assayas is well known to fans of world cinema but not probably so much to Multiplex cinema fans. He is a director who has followed in the footsteps of great French directors such as Francois Truffat, Jean Luc Godard and Claude Chabrol but also of Agnes Varda and Alain Resnais.
