Disadvantages: Slow, boring & not funny

Superbad is a film written by Seth Rogen (Knocked Up), I wasn't too keen on Knocked Up but I was told this was very good so decided to give it a try & bought it on DVD.

The film consists of a very basic plotline in. It's about 3 friends who are the most unpopular kids at school who are invited to a party by a girl one of them fancies. Their nerdy friend Fogell tells them that he plans to get a fake ID the 2 friends decide that this is a perfect way to look cool & impress the girls at the party which they're hoping they will lose their virginity at, they'll supply the alcohol.

Things go wrong immediately as one of the boys car is towed for parking in the wrong place then when Fogell arrives with his fake ID they are embarrassed when they find out he as adopted the name 'Mclovin'. The boys are doubtful that the checkout assistant will accept Fogell's ID so they decide to do the only thing they can do, shoplift vast amounts of alcohol... somehow! The boys not surprisingly chicken out which just leaves Fogell to go in & try to buy it with his ridiculously named fake ID. Incredible it works & the ID is accepted, next thing is that Fogell is knocked unconscious by a robber. The 2 boys were too busy perving at a young woman to notice the robbery so all they see is the police arrive & assume they have come to arrest Fogell for using a fake ID.

One of the boys is hit by a car & the driver, desperate for him not to report it agrees to buy them alcohol so he takes them to a liquor store.

The film then follows the boys including Mclovin on their quest to get alcohol for the party & then eventually get to the party. The only thing they have to do then is convince the girls to have sex with them, that's just one more obstacle for them to overcome!

I had high expectations for this film as I told it was really good but I didn't like it all to be honest. It was incredibly dull, boring & not funny at all. I was just waiting for it to be over, if I wasn't with other people who wanted to watch it would have turned it off within about half an hour, I really wanted to give this film a chance but there are just no redeeming features about it... accept maybe Fogell as Mclovin!

Summary: If you like to stupid comdies that aren't funny then this is the film for you!
