Advantages: Christopher Reeve

Disadvantages: Margot Kidder

Considering this movie was made in the late 1970s, it presents us with the most perfect Superman ever seen on screen. Christopher Reeve plays both the superhero and his alter ego Clark Kent with great relish, and Clark is still the wimp, whereas later comics turned him into almost as much a superhero as the S-Man himself. Margot Kidder is not beautiful enough for Lois Lane in my opinion, but Gene Hackman more than makes up for it as Lex Luthor.
