Advantages: Classic scenes and its Superman
Disadvantages: Looks a little dated, but still a classic
The original Superman in all its glory and, in my opinion, this is still comfortably the best super hero movie of all time.
Obviously the special effects are not what you see in the cinema these day and don't even come close to the hit TV series Smallville which profiles the young Clark Kent growing up to become the man of steel, but they were groundbreaking for their time and still work to this day.
The story starts out with a young baby boy named Kal-El being sent to earth to enable him to survive the explosion which is set to destroy his home planet Krypton. Kal-El is found by Jonathan and Martha Kent and taken in as one of their own.
We are then shown how Clark copes with being special at school for a short while before disaster strikes and Clark begins his journey to save the world, his true destiny.
The story that follows is one of action, heartbreak and joy at the same time. The late Christopher Reeve is immense as the man of steel and, for me, no matter who plays Superman in the future, it just won't be as good as this. His screen chemistry with love interest Louis Lane is amazing.
If you haven't seen this movie, I advise you go and get it today. It's miserable outside anyway.
Summary: The best superhero movie of all time.
