Advantages: A good film for kids and adults alike...............

Disadvantages: none.....

We see planet Krypton just before it explodes. We see clarks real father Jor-El played by Marlon Brando sending three criminals into the phantom zone. After which he meets with the council and is told off for his conviction that Krypton is doomed.

He then returns home to his wife and infant son (superman) Krypton explodes and Jor-El sends a young scared superman in a spaceship to Earth just before the planet is no more.

It is a long journey to Earth, it takes a few of years. Superman is not a infant when he crashs in a field near Smallville, Kansas. He is found by a couple known as Mr and Mrs Kent and gets raised as their son.His dad now has a heart attack and dies, and young Clark Kent sets out to find out what is out there. He takes his green crystal that was in his ship.

He reaches the north pole and throws the crystal through the air, when it lands it turns into a large crystal structure, his “Fortress of Solitude”. Here he will see a holographic image of his true father. He stays here awhile until he knows more about himself. Some years later he leaves and is wearing his familiar red and blue costume, and heads out to make his mark in the world.

We next see clark as he begins his job as a reporter at the Daily Planet. On his first night in Metropolis, Superman performs many hard rescues, captures criminals, and causes Lois to fall in love with him. The chemistry is there between lois and superman alias clark, but it needs time too grow. The following evening, when she interviews him, that love grows and begins to shine.

Gene Hackman is brillant as Lex Luthor. Valerie Perrine is her usual self as his girlfriend. lex of course falls for lois and wants superman dead. There always is a vilian in these films. This is a family film.
