This has to be one of the cutest family movies about with very cute characters to bond with and have a laugh along the way, interesting story and great graphics. I was expecting an average animation film, but this very pleasantly surprised me. An awesome, original film. The Big Z story was great, the mockumentary idea both clever and unannoying (which I feared wouldn't be the case when it first became clear that this was the angle they were taking on it); and the little penguin Arnold is hilarious. Probably the biggest surprise of the summer, a great film that definitely needs to be seen. A film for all the family. Its really been that long since I enjoyed an animation ... The mockumentary is a difficult style to pull off, especially in the form of a CGI cartoon. The likes of 'Spinal Tap' and 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' have worked on both levels that a mock documentary needs to - fun and style. It is important that if you are going to make a comedy film that it's fun, if that was not enough it is my opinion that if you are going to make a documentary style film then you must stick to it looking like a documentary e.g. no expansive shots or moving away from a real life feel. In live action films it's pretty straight forward just to shoot it as a scripted documentary and use the natural limitations of shooting to keep the documentary style. Is ...
