"Take the money and run" was one of the first movies of Woody Allen. It was produced in 1969 and was following the script of Woody, who had written it the year before. This was the first movie where Woody would write, direct and even act! Virgil is the main character (played by Woody Allen), he is a criminal who entered a life of crime very early, and has now ended up in jail. The style of the movie is documentary, and, again, this was the first time that Woody would take this style, which he later used in other movies. Take the Money and Run is a 1969 comedy starring and directed by Woody Allen. Allen had substantial creative control over a picture for the first time and made his debut as a director. For this reason Take the Money and Run is really the first 'proper' undiluted Woody Allen film. Filmed in a mockumentary style, Take the Money and Run chronicles hopeless bank-robber, and general failure, Virgil Starkwell (played by Allen) and uses fake cinéma vérité interviews, old newsreels and a non-stop assortment of verbal and visual jokes. The film directed by Woody, written (Screen play) by Woody Allen and Mickey Rose is the first of Woody’s film’s as actor/writer/director to be Produced by Charles.H.Joffe.
