The Madness of the writer to end up with such a concept, you must be thinking. If you have seen this film before or not, you will appreciate a lot of the films content, including it's unique look at car crime, that unique look would be *in my best french accent* "as if I should care". If you remember the trailor to this movie, you will recall the scene as a hurried businessman gets into what he thinks is just a random taxi, but then as he tells the driver where he wants to go, the ... From the outset, you know that 'Taxi' is a film that doesn't take itself seriously. It apes Pulp Fiction with the same opening song, but used in a genuinely funny and inventive way. I came by this DVD purely by accident. I had purchased TAXI DRIVER from Blockbuster, but the guy behind the till put the disk for TAXI in the box and I only found out when I got home. So I did what anybody else would have done, I watched Taxi with a view to returning it the following day and getting Taxi Driver instead. What a surprise I got, this is a really great film. Its written and directed by Luc Besson (Fifth Element , Leon, Nikita, ) and with a pedigree like that I should have known it would be good. The film tells the tail of a retired pizza deliveryman who becomes a taxi driver and gets roped into helping the police capture a German gang of ... Read the complete review
