'Teachers' is a great Comedy/Drama series set in a Bristol school, and follows the lives of a group of young teachers in and outside of school. It was shown on Channel 4, and has now finished after four series. This is a review of the second series DVD, which was released back in 2003. The second series of Teachers was originally broadcast on Channel 4 in 2002, and the DVD features all ten episodes of this series, spread over three discs; Episodes 1-4 on Disc one, Episodes 5-8 on Disc two, and Episodes 9, 10 and 'extras' on Disc three. Teachers is a really simple but funny show, it is based on the work and personal lives of seven teachers who in many ways are more immature than those they teach. The show focuses on the teachers lives both inside and outside of the classroom and deals with everyday problems, relationships, careers etc. The show focuses mainly on Simon (Andrew Licoln), and English teacher who is fed up with his personal life and his career. He manages to cope by spending most of his evenings in the local pub getting drunk with his fellow teachers and feeling sorry for himself. Teachers introduced me to Andrew Licoln and since then I have been a fan of his acting, I enjoy his ... Read the complete review

As a teacher myself, I first found this show delightful. It's a BAFTA winning channel 4 comedy drama. The basic premise of the show is that it follows the day to day lives of a group of teachers (in school and out) who are more immature than the kids; this is best seen when they swear at students, pick on kids, and join them for a smoke behind the bike sheds. It's what school would probably be like if there were no consequences for your behaviour as a teacher, and it's pure escapism from the rules and regulations that govern teaching today. The show also follows the teachers outside of school, mainly through storylines revolving around going to the pub and ... Read the complete review

Teachers is a successful drama shown on Channel Four, currently airing its Forth Series. As you may have guessed from its title, this show revolves around the lives of seven teachers at a comprehensive school. But these teachers are young, single and in most cases, act more outrageously than their pupils. The group are made up of the following: Simon (played by the ever reliable Andrew Lincoln) is the main character. He teaches English, but has no direction in life and leaves his teaching with a lot to be desired. He survives rather than thrives at work and finds his way of coping with everything lies in the local boozer. Brian (Adrian ... Read the complete review

We're back in the fictional town of Bristol for this second series charting the ups and downs of a group of secondary school teachers. Set in Summerdown Secondary School the teachers are faced with the daily challenges of their love lives, their social lives and all their assorted problems, oh and having to teach the kids as well! The main focus of the action revolves around a core set of characters; there's Simon the trainee English teacher who thinks he's too cool to be a teacher, Susan the psychology teacher who tries to unravel the other teachers tormented personal lives and Brian, the loveable yet neanderthal PE teacher who harbours a dream of ...
