Hard men do have consciences! It's true. You only have to look at the 2003 film Tears of the Sun starring Bruce Willis to believe it. Antoine Fuqua, fresh off directing Denzel in Training Day takes the chair in this war film. The Plot Veteran Navy Seal A K Waters leads a team of Special Ops soldiers into a war torn jungle rescue a US doctor running a mission. He finds a stubborn woman who will only come with him if he agrees to take the 70 refugees at the mission to safety also. Torn between his specific orders and his heart, Waters must decide what's best for his team, the war, and ultimately himself in this picturesque war film set in the heart of ... (Film Only Review) ‘Tears of the Sun’ is one interesting film for me. While the setting is superb, the premise is solid, the action is excellent and Willis is great (after spending the first quarter of the movie hating his character)-there’s no doubt that it does have some flaws. But if you can look over these problems, you’ll no doubt enjoy ‘Tears of the Sun’ for what it does-effectively re-create war. Directed by Antoine Fuqua (who recently released action film Shooter), this isn’t for the squeamish or for the emotional. If you’re neither of those, I’d recommend you watch this. -(The plot)- Lieutenant A.K. Waters (Bruce Willis) and his team ... Read the complete review

I’m not sure what it is about war films but I’m normally drawn into them quite easily. In fact it doesn’t even have to be a war film, it can be any sort of film that involves Special Forces of any description. So when I heard about Bruce Willis’s latest movie last year I put it high on my list to see. However things transpired and like Basic this one seemed to pass me by completely. That is of course until last week when the DVD release meant I had no option but to part with my hard earned cash and purchase a copy. The film itself follows quite a common theme with films of this sort, the Americans again getting involved in a situation ... Read the complete review

The gritty and rather bloody newsreel style opening sets the scene - it's Nigeria, the country is in chaos after a brutal Islamic dictator has seized power and started to ethnically cleanse the Christians from the country. The presidential family has been massacred, and an American doctor (Monica Bellucci), together with an assortment of Christian missionaries must be safely removed from the country. Into this foreign bloodbath steps Bruce Willis, a Lieutenant in the US Army, and his crew of bad-ass GI's who must secretly enter the country to rescue Miss Bellucci and generally kick some ass. And that's exactly what they ... Read the complete review

.:: Plot ::. In this action packed film, Lt. A.K. Waters (played by the brillaint Bruce Willis, famous for the DieHard series etc)), a long time serving veteran officer of the Navy S.E.A.L's is sent into the genocide stricken area of Africa with the sole task of rescuing a U.S citizen but finds that she doesn't want to leave the refugees that she is looking after. .:: Action ::. Tears of the Sun delivers a violent but brutal interpretation of war which mirrors that of real life conflict. The actions scenes are both brilliantly entertaining to watch but brutal and frighteningly accurate to what it is like in a real war. Although this can be ... Read the complete review
