Advantages: Things blow up. Sci-FI action um..theres guns and a kid
Disadvantages: Awful plot, lifeless chracters, Serious lack of real gore or death
I saw this on teh big screen last night (21st June). I should point out that i went truely blind i had read no reviews and ignored peoples points as much as possible.
QUITE A LONG REVIEW IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SPOLIERS SKIP TO THE LAST PARAGRAPH.
First shock...i settle down get comfy...the certificate rating comes up 12A...that was the first dissapointment how can a clearly adult franchise be driven down to a 12A rating the same rating for some fo the spiderman films. So before we start i already know that the new terminators are as scary as the green goblin. This proved to be true throughout the film no fear or suspense.
The film starts well hten slowly and surely takes a nose dive into what can only be described as plotless Sci-Fi dribble (I am a huge fan of Sci-Fi and hold temrinator up there with Bladerunner). The machines...the terminators well theres a total of 4 and half in the whole film and they die like the toys kids pick up in the poound shop.
Other machines look impressive but really don't serve any purpose at all. First we have 70foot thing that collects humans...maybe they keep them as pets. hten we have 'biker' types that are aimed at chasing cars on roads.
Ok to the plot. Basically the plot is....a machine with organs (Well two anyway) that is to infiltrate the humans and kill connor or bring them to cyberdine. That is the full plot nothing else to worry about no actual twists or dangers to mention.
The Plot Holes:
*Cyberdine has decided to collect humans....with no intention of what they are going to use them for. Theres me thinking a terminators soul purpose was to terminator not herd sheep. You can make a guess at what they use the humans for but to be honest its just peeing in the wind.
*When the super machines take over don't worry just use CB radio they cant pick that up...i guess the digital revolution took hold.
*Dont worry about getting caught you can drive/Fly/Walk/Hop skip and bloody jump across the country with them never finding you.
*Don;t go in the water there are special machine sin there just in case the human race evolves gills.
*Cyberdine doesn't guard the base that would be silly..so humans can run around at will.
*the terminator guards all seem to be on a shift change or break when the final escape take splace.
*there will be a sequel...becuase no one won...even though the Cyberdine HQ is blown up by the nuclear power cells left out lieing aorund.
*the machines love to clean...yup inside Cyberdine they keep it nice and white and prestine..dust is bad for robotos too i guess.
*Theres a factory that is constantly building Terminators...where these actually go is a mystery.
*the machines are obsessed with lights...even though they see with infra-red 9Actually mentioned in the film). They light up cyberdine like a huge chirstmas tree.
*There is a special frequency that disables the machines....but wait lets not bother with it all lets just send one man that will do.
As a fan of the franchise this is clearly a cash cow (Something to milk for money). This is easily spotted by the 12A rating. I just wonder what the parents will say when the kids come back and say can i watch the first one. The acting is medicore purely driven by a very poor director who has subsituted everything that was good with terminator with big booms! Basically this a medicore Sci-Fi action film that should only be viewed at home and at discount price. If they called this 'big things blow up' people would enjoy it better. The stigma that comes with the title is a let down from scene one to the end. Put it this way if you weet to see Harry Potter and it was Paul Daniels...thats what this is a sneaky trick by MCG to get your dosh. We expect better when using such a iconic name to get me to watch. Very Poor indeed
Summary: Poor - standard Sci-Fi along the lines of Cyborg. No fear or suspense at all.

- 21/06/09 I agree, lots of typos and spelling errors makes the review difficult to read. |
