Advantages: Bale, direction, action

Disadvantages: No need for the Terminator storyline

Terminator Salvation is not Terminator plain and simple, so long as you watch this not thinking of Arnie and the 80's then you should quite like it. It's very action packed, with bullets flying all over but the storyline is rather broken and piecemeal. It feels as if the script was rather cobbled together using the original story of Terminator (skynet, John Connor etc you all know it!) as a thin basis and then seeing how much action they could cram in!

I would say this would have been a far more successful summer blockbuster without the Terminator thread running through because, Bale is quite obviously a class act and McG (even if he does have a silly name) has made some good films. Just watch this without thinking about the title on the cover and you will enjoy it I assure you.

As a film 7/10
As a Terminator film 5/10

Summary: Terminator has been overused but this is still good action...

Well true fans no that only 1 & 2 are the real Terminator, not many franchises have gone back years later and succeeded! The only one to mind is Rocky Balbao which was epic. Still I like Bale, I think he was wasted on this though, limited characterisation for him, look at American Psycho going back almost 10 years and that is how to act!

Methinks the Terminator franchise will run and run....unfortunately.
