Advantages: Some great comedic moments

Disadvantages: Sometimes a bit blokey for me!

** The Plot **

Andy Stitzer (Steve Carrell) is, as the title suggests, a 40 year old virgin. He is the classic "geek", having a fantastic collection of action figures that are still in their packaging and comic books. He works in an electronics store with some very odd, young guys, who, when they find out Andy is a virgin vow to help him! Obviously their ideas are not the best even to the point of Andy's boss offering to be his "special friend with benefits" if he wants. His friend's "help" often leads Andy into a lot of trouble and, for us, lots of laughs.

Whilst at work Andy meets Trish. Trish owns a store across the street called "We Sell your Stuff On Ebay". Andy and Trish immediately hit it off and start to date. Andy becomes increasingly worried about how he can tell Trish he is a virgin, when, luckily, they decide not to have sex until they have had their 20th date.

** My Opinion **

I was a bit stuck one evening and decided to see what was on TV, and there was 40 Year Old Virgin. I wasn't sure it would be to my taste as I really thought it would be a bit too much bloke humour for me. But I was wrong. Yes there is a lot of bloke humour but it really is in context with the film and is done in such a way that you can laugh at it if not with it.
There are some brilliant slapstick moments including a waxing scene which is definitely one to watch out for. Also some great banter provided by the co-stars including Paul Rudd.

Steve Carrell is fantastic as Andy. He is sweet and funny without being too pathetic that you get annoyed with him.

All in all this is a brilliant piece of comedy, something that made me laugh out loud which doesn't happen often I have to say.

Summary: Great fun
