Advantages: funny, good script, action
Disadvantages: ££more needed spending on the film
51st State is a film about a top drugs pharmacist (Samuel L Jackson) who has a career in selling illegal drugs over a period of 30 years. He decides to retire - but after one last sale of a multi $$$m formula for a wonder drug 51% stronger than cocaine, 51% stronger than ecstacy! Supported by a top cast including Robert Carlysle (Full Monty) and Rhys Evans (Notting Hill) the film is full of comedy, blood, guts, drug running, car chases and gangster like fun. It needs it's 18 cert as a warning for those with delicate stomachs but is a laugh a minute and well worth a trip to the cinema. A refreshing brit film with all the best from Hollywood and Liverpool's finest - even though you don't get to see what's under Jackson's kilt! The only bad thing I have to say is the scouse accents needed a bit more work as they fall into Scots/Irish on occassion! Recommendation - go and see it!!

- 20/12/01 Oh & I thought your SU rating for my 51st State op was ridiculous, considering everyone else gave it VU!! |
|
- 20/12/01 You do get to see what's under the kilt near the end, during the credits, the bit outside the castle.
As for your derogatory comments on my op - the opinions I wrote on both Ciao & Dooyoo are NOT identical & it is allowed to do this. After all, I wrote it!
My ops take a long time to write & I only get 3p per read here, so I would hardly call that "easy money"!!
My op on Ciao got paid NOTHING because this film isn't in a paying category.
Thankyou very much. |
