Rating:

Advantages: Good cast, amusing storyline and Uma is really likable in it

Disadvantages: None really, I enjoyed it although I guessed the outcome before I even watched it!

Dr Emma Lloyd (Uma Thurman) appears to have it all. Good looking, lovely fiancee Richard (Colin Firth) who also acts as her publisher, she is organised and hosts a radio show offering advice to women in the main about love and has just released a book all about the subject too and is pretty well known.

However unwittingly on her show one night she takes a phone call in the phone in section of her radio show from a young woman wanting advice about her relationship and her impending marriage and it ends up with Emma putting doubt into the callers mind as to weather getting married is right for her and her wedding is called off leaving her finance very distressed and upset indeed.

Patrick turns out to be the spurned now ex lover (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and he ends up finding out that its Emma who offered the advice to his now ex finance and takes on a hatred for Emma and wants to punish her and with a little help from a young internet hacker marries Emma through online documents which then means Emma finds out about it due to her impending marriage to Richard and she needs to find this mystery man to get him to sign divorce papers so she can marry the man of her dreams......Richard?

Patrick is the complete opposite to Emma and as a firefighter is a bit rough around the edges and at first each of the pair find the other one rather annoying but they keep bumping into eachother due to the confusion about the marriage (well Emma's anyway!) and over time they get to know eachother and like eachother and get a growing affection. Is Emma marrying the right man or she married to the right one already is the big issue or can she just get divorced and go it alone??!

My Opinion:

I am not the worlds biggest fan of rom coms I have to admit but just fancied watching this one due to the cast being Uma and Colin and I have to admit to rather enjoying this 90 minute film rather alot. The cast were great, the plot far fetched and the ending.....well totally predictable in the way it panned out with a nice little ending that rounded the film off nicely for me. It didn't drag, was amusing in part and kept me entertained and although this isn't a thought provoking film or one I would watch time and time again I enjoyed it well enough. It was nice to see an older and more mature cast looking at love and relationships and the film did try to delve into why Uma was the way she was and had the ideas of love she held and gave the advice she did by bringing in her father, Wilder (Sam Shepard) but whilst again he was another strong and z good member of the cast it didn't make all that much of an impact really an the the love triangle there was that did do all the work.

For me its a nice little film with a nice ending and a perfect rating of 12 is given to this pretty unoffensive film!

Available on Amazon from as little as a penny for a very good and used copy (plus p+p of £1.26 which is what I paid for it) or a new copy is about £4.65 including p+p.

Summary: A nice film!
