The Age of Stupid is a film that is set in the not so distant future where the ravages of climate change have almost destroyed planet earth. Pete Postlethwaite stars as 'The Archivist' a man who watches footage from the present day and tries to figure out why if we knew what was happening to planet earth, why didn't we do something about it? Documentaries declaring the dire need for us to tackle the issue of climate change are a dime a dozen; the likes of An Inconvenient Truth show us lots of flip charts and diagrams and spout plenty of talking head data at us, but to truly reach a large audience, you're going to need something more dynamic than a lecture, and so director Franny Armstrong has come up with the clever mockumentary-come-fiction-piece The Age of Stupid, a genre-bending exercise that cleverly addresses the climate change issues while also being a rather entertaining outing in its own right. I was delighted to have been given the opportunity to attend the People's Premiere of The Age of Stupid last weekend, the film was extremely well received. This film is having it's UK cinema release RIGHT NOW, today, and over this weekend - 20th, 21st and 22nd of March!!
