Akira Kurosawa wrote that 'not to have seen the cinema of Satyajit Ray means existing in the world without seeing the sun or moon'...It's almost impossible to follow that or indeed offer any more words of recommendation, but I guess I shall fumble through a few, however humbly, as a fan, and as someone whose eyes have been opened and illuminated by those same stars.
