Advantages: great script

Disadvantages: well sort of tired of Jesse James

There once lived a man named Jesse James. He became an outlaw, killed many people and participated with his gang in many bank robberies. Jesse was killed by an acquaintance of his Robert Ford.

The film is based on a 1983 book written by Ron Hansen.

In the film Jesse James is portrayed as paranoid low life killer. Robert Ford is a coward. He has a complex relationship with Jesse. Has a lot of respect for Jesse but is also scared of him. Because Jesse is a cold killer and Ford knows it. When the government hires the Ford brothers to bring in outlaw Jesse James Robert finds it easier to kill the outlaw. The opportunity to do this is very difficult as Jesse is alert at smallest of noises, even when he is sleeping he can wake up instantly.

Ford finally finds an opportunity to kill Jesse. From the way the story is told it looks as Jesse got tired of it all and let the Ford brothers kill him.

After the death of Jesse James the Ford brothers become celebrities but this is short lived.


Jesse James is a master piece. It is in the same league as Unforgiven made by Clint Eastwood many years ago, and it is one of the best films from last year. The performances are exceptional and the film is moodish and brilliant. The way characters interact and the details that the script goes into make it a very good film and finally there is also worth a mention.
