Premium Review The Bank Job (Blu-ray): Far Better Than I Expected (1015 words)

Although the heading specifies Blue Ray, there are no plans for a release of The Bank Job in this format during 2008. I was reluctant to watch The Bank Job; sadly I don't fall into the camp that considers Jason Stratham an actor, a chimpanzee with a gruff voice maybe. Something about that classic video look about the cover/poster of the actor looking out of a car window had just enough retro feel about it to lure me in and finally watch the movie. The Bank Job is a relatively complex (if you're not paying attention) thriller that has a variety of different strands that all converge at a Lloyds Bank branch in the early 1970's. Terry Leather ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Opening Pandora's Box... (961 words)

This film has been described as a thriller, crime, mystery and a brit flick a la 'Lock Stock'. When choosing something to see, this film did not really appeal, as the genres already mentioned aren't among the types of film I would usually be interested in. I prefer to watch big blockbusters, or films with a more avant garde nature. So, allowing my partner to make the choice, I agreed to watch 'The Bank Job'. I was mildly excited as I would be watching something that I wouldn't necessarily choose myself, but had a feeling I would hate it. Well, I was wrong. At first, I half-heartedly followed the plot and within about 20 minutes, I was hooked. Set in the 70s, ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review The Bank Job (Blu-ray): A Great Film. Over. (881 words)

Out of all the crimes that people commit one that seems to remain sexy is the Bank Robbery. There are countless films about robbing banks from the brilliant 'Dog Day Afternoon', to a mullet wearing Patrick in 'Point Break' via the likes of 'Swordfish', 'The Inside Man' et al. Nearly all these films have you rooting for the bad guy even though in reality we should not. In America bank robberies are pretty common and with the prevalence of guns they often end with people hurt; or worse, dead. We should not condone bank robbers, but they do make for a good film. Perhaps a film about a 1970s robbery would sit better with me? Terry is a family man whose car ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Great. (205 words)

Rating:

In the film, thiefs tunnel into a bank safe and loot the money and jewelry worth millions. Nobody was arrested and none of it was ever found. The robbery found headlines for a couple of days in 1971. It shows what was taken and murder where the theifs were the most innocent people involved. The cast does a great job and fit into their roles very well. The script is witty and entertaining. The director does a good job. The message of the film is good and doesn't get in the way of the film. The story is easy to understand so everyone can enjoy the film. The plot twists will keep you entertained. The film has action from start to finish. It can be ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Bank Job (Blu-ray): Entertainment with The Statham. (655 words)

Last night we were sitting at home bored so decided to give the Bank Job a watch. Now it had gone midnight so I didn't think I would even be able to stay up for it but due to the entertainment that it was I did manage it. Now it is not the most amazing film in the world but likewise it is not the worst. I did enjoy it for what it was though so this review will tell you why. Ok so the story is about a bank robbery which does not completely work out the way it was intended. Martine is a beautiful model who knows all of the villains around. When she finds out that a bank will have alarms down for a week she lets a group of people know so that they can break ...  Read the complete review
