Advantages: Great writing and acting
Disadvantages: Too short at 20 mins
I must confess I don't own this DVD, but I have seen the first season of the show on E4. As with a lot of my favourite shows these days, I just happened upon this gem when flicking through my favourite channels when I was at a loss for something to watch. I'm so glad I found it as it is one of the best laughs I've had in ages.
The show is centred on two room mate physicists, Leonard and Sheldon who are total and utter geeks. They have fairly poor social skills (Sheldon is much worst than Leonard granted) and live for science fiction. They have a new room mate across the hall called Penny who is anything but geeky. She is a beautiful blonde babe and the object of Leonards affection.
The two other key members of the cast are Howard and Rajesh. They are two of Leonard and Sheldon's work mates and suitably geeky friends.
The show just features the cast in day to day life in various situations, often involving computer games, sci-fi, physics and eating thai food!!
My son won't thank me for saying this, but there are elements of all 4 of the male characters I see in him, and I think that even adds to the humour for me!
The shows are only 20 minutes long which is a real shame as it absolutely flys by, but each one is a fantastically crafted comedy gem. The writing is so good, and the acting matches it. I only hope they can keep the quality level so high. If the writers do manage it and they keep this cast I predict that this series will go from strength to strength picking up more and more fans.
I completely recommend it to anyone of any age. Release your inner geek now!!
Summary: Another Modern Comedy Classic
