Well i guess everyone has heard about the hype that surronded this film and er........its failure. This film was made by two guys looking for a quick handout. Well they needed some cash to pay off there credit card debts so they decided to, well, direct a film. So of they went to the bank and got a lone for £20,000 and started shooting. They got 3 actors a tent a camera and some string and went to the woods for a bit of a laugh.

The concept
-------------------

Im now going to completley contradict myself (no need to comment). The success of this film was based on one idea. They would create a legend through the media internet etc etc then make a film about it. The creators started to think of an idea they decided that the centre of the sotry should be a witch, outlawed from a town, years later strange things begin to happen and hey presdo the Blair Witch was born. All they had to do now was tell the story to the public, the created a web site and a documentery about the legend. few months later everyone qwas on about the blair witch when a film was annonced every one was sooooo excited (thats the hype i was tyalking about earlier). Then the film was released and it was the worst film every (what dothe directors care they've paid off their debts and are sat on a yacht in the carribean islands).

The film
--------------------

The film also has a strange concept to it, The film is supposed to be redescovered footage of threee students going into the woods to film the blair witch. They disappear, there footage is found and a film is created out of it. This seems like a good idea, (apart from its a handheld camera so you'll suffer from motion sickness after watching it).

The film basically follows three students trying to make a documentry on the blair witch, it starts off wti them visiting the near by town of birkitsville. Then they trek into the black woods in search of their witch. Once there things begin to
go alittle pear shaped. They begin to get lossed, and arguments are started, what was supposed to be a weekend trip has turned into a living nightmare for them. This film contains no special effects what so ever, in this film its what you can't see that is most interesting. As a saisd it contains nothing. Then why do all the critcs say tha it was soooo scary??? Well the directors having been on a very tight budget had to think up new ideas. They decided to follow the cast round leaving things for them ( whats interesting is that the cast don't know whats going to happen, there just old where to go, when, roughly what to say and do) so the fear on the actors faces is partly real fear.

Some of the things the directors do is leave rocks outside the tents, make stick men and hang the in trees. The film has a great idea that could have worked sooo well. Then comes the ending, here you see the traditional way that the blair witch would have killed people which without the docummentry explaining every thing ould have just looked crap. The how film its self is quite weird.

My opinion
--------------------

This film I thought was very stupid in places. With the actors not even knowing what there saying makes the film a tad boring, watching three dimwits argue for the tenth time in a row is quite depressing. If you have any sense you wouldn't watch this its not scary at all, I found nothing remotley interesting about it at all, I even found myself fast forwarding in places. I pity those who paid for the cinema to go and see the film.
