The Boat That Rocked - another under the radar british made movie which, with an all star cast including Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill, Love, Honour and Obey), Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Twister, Capote), Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Carribean, Love Actually) and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), provides an insight into a forgotten life, led by many in the 60's, who had only radio to listen to.

This tale is about a pirate radio station who broadcast from a ship to the United Kingdom, whilst trying to evade the jurisdiction of the government , and particular a government minister, Dormandy (Kenneth Brannagh) whom with his subordinate Twatt (Jack Davenport) conspire to bring the pirate radio companies to an abrupt halt.

All this happens around a young lad called Carl (Tom Sturridge), who hopes to make a new start for himself after being expelled from school. He is sent by his mother Charlotte (Emma Thompson), who later reveals that Carl's father is on the boat.

It is an absolutely fantastic film, and rather than just tell you what happens, I will urge you to watch it, as no review can do it justice. Another great piece of work from Richard Curtis. Go on, what are you waiting for? GO NOW!!!

Summary: great film
