Advantages: Well written and acted film

Disadvantages: Not very well known

Director – Troy Duffy.
Run Time – 103 minutes approx.
Special Features – None from the early release although a special edition has been released.
Cast –
Willem Defoe – Paul Smecker.
Sean Patrick Flanery – Conner MacManus.
Norman Reedus – Murphy MacManus.
David Della Rocco – Funny Man.

Plot Summary –
Conner (Flanery) and Murphy(Reedus) MacManus are devote Irish catholic brothers living in harsh conditions and living a tough life in a tough neighbourhood, believing that it’s god’s will for them to get rid of Boston’s bad guys.
Equipped with an arsenal of guns, lots of cash and divine intervention the MacManus brothers are looked upon has ‘saint’ by the Boston public.
But the F.B.I have different ideas and send agent Smecker(Defoe) on their trail.
But one question has to be asked will the killings stop or will they carry on?

My Opinion –
This film is a highly entertaining vigilante film with a I’m doing god’s will take on it and this film is hugely helped by Willem Defoe’s performance has the highly intelligent, very Homosexual and camp F.B.I agent Paul Smecker who use’s this to parade around Boston and he is taken very lightly by his fellow colleagues to his advantage.
Conner and Murphy have an unquestionable bond that links them and that carries them through many dangerous situations but also there closeness has them bickering between themselves, about weapons and how the plans are executed the director Troy Duffy does a fine job with the shoot-out scene’s keeping you engrossed with the action and how the brothers fare.
Davis Della Rocco is really funny man and plays a paranoid, hyper schizoid that talks far too much and performs the most memorable part of this film which I won’t go into for risk of ruining it for folks who haven’t seen it. He really pulls the role off and is very convincing. With is maniacal ramblings.
This film has flown under the radar for many years and should really be seen by a wider audience and get the recognition it deserves. It also boasts Billy Connolly in a very different role that is a far cry away from the stand up comedy he is famous for.
Enjoy!

Summary: Great film full stop.
