Advantages: The library scene
Disadvantages: The confusion
This film is based upon a short story taken from an episode of the Twilight Zone and is directed by Richard Kelly. The storyline is simple enough. A normal couple (Cameron Diaz and James Marsden) are given a box. If they push a button on the box they will be given $1 million in cash, but that will cause someone, somewhere to die.
Simple enough you'd think, but what follows is a storyline so bizarre and complex that I find it difficult to expand any further into the plot. There's some deformed body parts and a scary library scene, but otherwise I find it impossible to provide you with any further details.
Do I like this film? Well I have to say that I didn't. I brought this DVD as I am a huge fan of Cameron Diaz, but this has to be classified as one of those, 'why did I do that', films. Her acting is sketchy at best, while James Marsden gives a truly forgettable performance. I really can't work out why directors bother to cast him in anything. They would have been better getting Ewan McGregor, or someone of that calibre. That said, James Marsden was probably the only person who took notice of this bizarre film.
SUMMARY
The Box is oddly confusing and will leave you unable to describe what you have just witnessed. Do yourself a favour and avoid wasting your money on this film.
Summary: I wouldn't recommend this to anyone
