MOLLY RINGWALD

Molly plays the role of Clare someone whose parents spoil her but not out of love. They do it to spite each other and are very bitter. Clare is very aware of the reason for it and is saddened by it. She is in detention for skipping class to go on a shopping trip at the mall. She is a very sensitive person proven later on when she ends up crying due to one of the other people in detention being hostile towards her. She uses her looks and money to get where she wants in life.

EMILIO ESTEVEZ

Emilio plays the role of Andrew Clark he is a keen athlete and everything about him screams typical jock. He is in detention for beating someone from his school up and taping his buttocks together. He uses his aggression to settle almost every situation he meets. His father is putting a lot of pressure on him to be a wrestler and due to years of brain washing he is sure this is what he wants but in detention he begins to question that and gets to thinking about what he really wants. He also realizes he likes Alison after she makes some rather striking changes to her appearance. He plays a tough character but once they all start opening up in detention you really see hes kind hearted and he even shows remorse for what he done to the guy which caused him to be in detention in the first place. He is too eager to please and to quick to do what others tell him to do even if its not what he wants.

ALLY SHEEDY

Ally plays Allison Reynolds she isn't very sociable or at least at the beginning it appears that way she doesn't make much contribution speech wise at the start although we have her to thank for a rather funny scene when she is eating. Even though at the beginning she doesn't talk a lot she still manages to play a very unforgettable role. She is definitely the weirdest of the bunch but this is actually caused by her lack of friends and social isolation she actually enjoys company a lot which i found surprising at the start i fought she was just a loner and liked things that way she and Andrew form a unexpected bond.

ANTHONY MICHAEL HALL

Anthony plays Brian he is very intelligent and a straight A student his whole life seems to revolve around his work and the start and he would be referred to as a typical nerd. He is very pleasant and a nice person too and quite sensitive but he has a rather tragic reason for being in detention. Anthony is a great actor he has been in a few 80s films and puts in high quality performances.

JUDD NELSON

Judd plays the role of Bender he is a trouble maker and often causing trouble for no other reason than that he wanted to. He seems like quite a mean guy at the start and generally is but he also has a soft side which he displays later in the movie when he stand up for Allison and takes a liking to Clare. He is a typical bully and plays the role extremely well.

MY OPINION

This film is about 5 kids who all get put in detention together and the time they are all stuck in a room together makes for a very interesting film that is a excellent one to watch. They are all very different and from different cliques and there is certainly more than a few personality clashes due to this. They all have rather interesting stories behind the reasons why they act the way they do and one day in detention turns out to be a unexpected learning curve in the young peoples lives as they get to know each other, whereas previously they wouldn't have even been in each others presence for fear of ruining there reputations. When they all come together they realize they have great issues and form unlikely alliances. The actors in this film became part of the brat pact which also includes actors such as Demi Moore, rob Lowe and Andrew McCarthy it includes a amazing dance scene and wonderful soundtracks on all three. It lasts 97 minutes and is rated 15 Iv seen the price for this range from 15 to 20 pounds depending where you go.

Summary: This film is very good its a 80s classic
