I love escaping into the world of films. I love many kinds of films, but two of my favourites are disaster movies (having been brought up by a Dad who loves The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno) and films starring classic actresses. I love Jean Harlow, Marilyn Monroe, Natalie Wood and the like. So imagine by glee when I heard of a disaster movie starring two screen legends - Sophia Loren and Ava Gardner! The Cassandra Crossing was also nice and cheap - just £2.98 from Amazon - so how could I resist?! The plot is typically dramatic, of course. Quite a slow burner this one. It starts very slowly with a plague victim infecting a trainload of passengers on their way through Switzerland. Cue onboard doctor Richard Harris who becomes the only person to help the fated passengers. Beutifully sh...(read more) ot and directed, The Cassandra Crossing is a bit of a lost classic. You could easily dismiss it as just another 70's disaster movie with an eclectic cast like Meteor or The Poseidon Adventure, but its much more than that. Yes its got the strange guest cast (OJ and Martin Sheen?) but it also has adecent storyline. The final 10 minutes are quite shocking as well if you're not quite ready for it, because ...
