Advantages: costumes are good and i love that theyve made a movie out of my favourite childhood book

Disadvantages: they ruined the book. Its awful. Its so naff and unrealistic. The characters are all wrong. gah.

After loving the books as a kid i thought id revisit my childhood which wasnt really that long ago...infact some would still class me as a child...

I went to see the film in the cinema.

If you've somehow managed to avoid all knowledge of Narnia, i wouldnt go see the film to know the story and i'll explain after i've told you the story.

Four evacuee kids end up in this old mansion, and after a game of hide and seek they find a magical realm of Narnia through a wardrobe.
Narnia is being run by an evil witch who has made the place all snowy and turns everyone to stone cus shes crazy. Basically shes planning on doing something evil to Narnia and the talking animals want the kids to help them stop her.
No you arent on drugs and you havent gone crazy the animals really are talking.

The main problem with this film is that i am a teenager and come from a very sarcastic innuendo filled gene pool therefore i find every opportunity to make fun of everything because im a horrible person. Even though i tried to watch this from the point of view of the child in me i couldnt help thinking
'the little girl is so incredibly annoying'
and mr.tumbness seems to be everything that is wrong with the world.
I dont think its macavoys fault, i think its just the way they shot him because they make him seem like a creep, focusing on his eyes and making him seem really strange.
Well.
What would you say if some crazy man with no top and hooves asked your little kid into their house for some 'tea'...Exactly.

Maybe i'd appreciate it more if i could relate to the kids, when you read the book as a kid you feel more like your one of them and your kinda going on the journey with them.
These guys have blatantly been dragged out of stage school, since when have teenagers talked with proper pronounciation and i know its meant to be back in yonder days but really...at least make them cockney.

The cgi is appauling.
What happened to the good old days where the creatures seemed life like, like et and the labyrinth.
All the animals are really over computer generated if you understand me and its a bit annoying, also as i'm sure they werent on a small budget and loads of films used to use actual animals.
Is it me or is the life likeness of things becoming worse?
Because that is not a lion!

I dont know if its just so its easier to make the ps2 game equivalent seem more life like but it really takes away from the actual adventure and the whole way through i couldnt stop thinking No! you ARENT in narnia, your in a studio with a green screen talking to a ping pong ball on a stick.

And all the actors are sooooo annoying!
I dont know if its just their accents but i cant stand them.
And the witch is no where near scary enough she just seems like a bit of a cow.

They should have got Tim Burton to make this.
They havent got the right balance of darkness and magic right.
Im more scared of mr.tumbness than the witch.

Only good thing about this is the plot and the costumes.

Sigh.

Summary: Dont bother, just read the books they wrecked it. Im only seeing prince caspian because he is HOT
