I have to confess that this is one of my favourite Westerns ever. If you are not a John Wayne fane you should probably skip this because it is essentially a John Wayne vehicle. In my opinion it ranks amongst the pick of the Dukes mid career output. Its Texas 1843, and the Comanches are causing trouble, stirred up by the Comancheros, devious bandits who deal in guns and liquor without regard to the consequences. Wayne plays Captain Jake Cutter. I really think I must be getting close to the 'long suffering' wife award as I let hubby choose the film again and yes you guessed it, John Wayne! John Wayne plays the role of Captain Cutter who is a Texan Ranger and is out looking for wanted men when he finds one aboard a ship and arrests him. The man he arrested is a gambler going by the name of Paul Regret. Cutter takes Regret and heads of back to the headquarters but Regret manages to escape. Cutter is off meeting an old friend with the intention of bring down a gang of gunrunners when in the bar he sees Regret gambling and soon has him back under arrest.
