... is difficult to explain without giving the entire story away. I will do my best to provide an overview however. Caleb (the main character and the best looking one) and his friends are the sons of Ipswich. This means that they are the first sons born of the five founding families of their town in Massachusettes. Their families were the ones accused of practicing magic during the notorious witch hunt in Massechusetts. Their accusers were right of course, but years later the families were forced to hide their powers more...more

Plot In 1692, in the Ipswich Colony of Massachusetts, five families of powerful witches commit to a covenant of silence to protect themselves against the witch hunters, but one of the families transgress their pact and is banished from their lands. Along the centuries, the power and the covenant are transmitted through their descendants and when the eldest son is eighteen years old, he ascends to a higher power. However, the use of magic addicts and if used in excess, ages the warlock. In the present days, four wizards teenage friends are in high school and their leader Caleb Danvers (Steven Strait) is close to his eighteenth birthday and consequently to ascend. He ...

If a film is directed by Renny Harlin then you are getting a cast iron guarantee that the film will be dumber than the guy who thought up shipping football abroad for an extra game. Mr Harlin always sails close to the line and whilst his films can never be classed as high art, at least some of them are entertaining. I have to admit that I've enjoyed the likes of Deep Blue Sea, Long Kiss Goodnight and even Cutthroat Island wasn't as bad as it's box office suggests. In truth the man can blow sh*t up. However The Convenant doesn't have anything to blow up and thus it is a complete turd. The film starts with a hokey medieval introduction to the ideas of groups ...
