Advantages: Beautiful story, well told

Disadvantages: Some of the cinematography might not be to everyone's taste

I can't believe that this film has been knocked so much in reviews. It is a truly magnificent film and I believe it deserved to win more Oscars than it did.

The story begins with Daisy, an old woman who is dying in hospital, being visited by her daughter. Daisy asks her daughter to read a book to her. We soon find out that the book is the journal of an old flame of Daisy's, called Benjamin.

Benjamin describes how he was "born under unusual circumstances". He was born as a very old, crippled, dying man. His mother died soon after his birth.

He was left on the doorstep of a nurse, who went on to raise Benjamin as her own, believing that he would die before long. Of course, that's not what happened, because Benjamin Button grew younger!

It's enchanting. It's very different from the original short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald but it's a wonderful adaptation. The love story between Benjamin and Daisy is beautiful. And as far-fetched as the premise may be, it feels so REAL.

Every scene is shot and directed extremely well.

What is worth watching the film for alone is the special make-up effects; especially Brad Pitt looking like a teenager. It's not like when they do flashbacks in television programmes and all they do is put a wig on the guy. He really does look like a teenager. He has no wrinkles, his skin is as smooth as a baby's bottom. It's remarkable.

Back to the film itself, it's about life, about making the most of it while you can, about making tough choices, and remembering that the people you love are always with you.

I would recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Every second is a joy to watch
