Advantages: Good acting, good story
Disadvantages: Dated effects
As we have seen both of the previous Hulk films we just had to watch the final one, according to my hubby! Again this is one of the original films which stars Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno.
The start of the film see David playing the role of David Bellamy who is a cleaner working in the Government science Labs. He is playing a role of a slow man and secretly getting recordings of the security personal to be able to get into the lab of a top scientist to help him with his experiments.
David has done a good job of not becoming the Hulk but when he goes to the bank to cash his works cheque his gets mugged on the way home and he ends up getting angry and changing into the Hulk. After he manages to get back to being David he makes sure he works harder at the scientist experiments so he can find a cure to get rid of the Hulk for good.
David gets found out by the scientist and tells him his real identity and about what happens to him. The scientist agrees to try and help him but things take a turn for the worst when a woman goes undercover and breaks into the lab to steal the disks full of the scientist work just as David is about to have the procedure which would ultimately cure him.
What will happen to the stolen disks and will David manage to get through his procedure and be rid of the Hulk forever?
I did actually enjoy watching this film and thought it was a good ending to the previous 2. The roles of David and the Hulk were still undertaken by the same actors but I did notice that Bill Bixby had aged quite a lot. Despite this he still managed to do a great job of his character and made him very believable. I thought Lou Ferrigno again did a super job in his role of Hulk and he managed to show a softer side in this film and show us that the Hulk did have feelings and care for people. All of the supporting actors in the film also did wonderful jobs of bringing their characters alive on screen and they all had a great on screen chemistry.
Both me a hubby were a bit confused with the character of David at the start of the film as he was playing a slow cleaner, I told hubby that this would be a ruse to allow him to work as a cleaner but Hubby was adamant that he was taking tablets to repress the Hulk. I was so pleased when it turned out that I was right! The story was good and was not meant to be believable as the Hulk is a fictional character but the way it was put across did make it seem as it could really happen. We did find that the addition of a love interest in this film was slightly off putting but then on the other hand it did give the story a different side and showed that David still does want a normal life where he does not have to keep moving on.
The effects in the film were so dated but this film was made in 1990 so these can be forgiven. I did find the late 80's fashion very funny indeed to see and the technology which was in the high-tech lab was laughable to see! The Hulk was played by a proper actor which made the film even better for me and hubby as the new computer enhanced one looks so fake and unrealistic. We are definitely not going to be seeing the new films.
The music was not very memorable in the film but I do remember thinking that t was all suitable for the parts in which it was used.
There are no bonus features of the DVD which we have. The running time of this film is only 90 minutes and I found this to be a great length and the certificate on the film is a 12 but I do think that this might be slightly high for the present year. There is no bad language in the film and only some mild violence which I did not find at all scary or think children would be affected by watching it. I will be letting my boys watch this film as with the others as they do love the Hulk but I don't think I will let them watch the last 5 minutes as my eldest is very sensitive!
The DVD is available to buy on Amazon for just under £4 which I feel is a great price.
I do recommend this film to all fans of the Hulk as it is the original, has a good story and great characters but a did find I was surprised with the ending!
Summary: The third and final film in the original Hulk series
